Project Wild!

I recently attended this workshop on September 28, 2013. We were lucky enough to have a warm, sunny day so we were able to "play" outside.

Playing + learning + being outside = awesome.

This workshop emphasized the importance of recognizing that wild life issues always have more than one side to a story ... for example, hunting or trapping, which may be seen as inhumane to some, but also a means of pest-control. Both sides have valid points.

We also talked about ecosystems and the detrimental effects that can occur if man-introduced species are not carefully considered.

We were given an amazing resource book with 120 lesson plans relating to Canadian Wildlife. The activities are extremely useful for planning engaging lessons and are clearly integrated with other subjects like science, art, drama and physical education. I love this resource book and cannot wait to implement some of these lessons during my teaching block.

Here is a picture of myself with one of the organisers ... and my teacher associates Sara and Chantal ...

We had a great day!
